Self Storage Unit Options

Are you looking to rent a storage unit? There are many reasons why you may need some extra space. Maybe you’re moving homes, were given furniture you can’t store, have too many Christmas decorations, or maybe you just have too much stuff. No matter your reason for needing extra space, Vacationland Self Storage has got your back.

If you're looking for storage rentals near Sanford Maine, you’ve come to the right place. We have several different unit sizes and features, so you’re bound to find exactly what you need.

Here’s a look at the self-storage units we have for rent. We have both regular drive-up and climate-controlled storage units. Unless noted otherwise, each size is available both as a drive-up storage unit and a climate-controlled storage unit.

5x5 (Only available as drive-up storage, not climate controlled)

Our 5x5 unit is the smallest available, but that doesn’t mean that it is any less useful. This size of storage unit is perfect for those who don’t have a lot of items to store or only have small items in need of a temporary home. Because this unit is not climate controlled, make sure that any items you store do well in changing temperatures and climate.

If you only need to store something for a few weeks or less, then even those items that do better in climate-controlled units should be alright. This depends on the item, the weather and climate conditions, and how long you leave it in the storage unit. If you are storing items such as furniture, electronics, artwork, or instruments, then renting a climate-controlled storage unit is always better.

5x10

Renting a 5x10 storage unit is a good idea if you plan to store things that would fit into a mid-sized bedroom. To give you an idea of how big this unit is, know that this size typically fits a bed, dresser, and several boxes.

10x10 (Only available as a climate-controlled unit)

This size of the unit is only available as a climate-controlled unit, which is great if you plan to be storing items that react poorly to uncontrolled climates or long periods of time alone. A 10x10 unit typically fits an entire family living room or two full-sized bedrooms, as well as several boxes. If this sounds like the perfect size for your storage needs, be sure to rent today, because our 10x10 units go quickly!

10x15

A 10x15 unit is perfect for storing large items of furniture, pianos, tables, or large televisions. Another way to look at it is knowing that a 10x15 storage unit will fit the contents of three full bedrooms, as well as boxes. While you may be able to get away with one or two smaller storage units for most of your stuff, if you plan to store very large items or pianos, getting this size or larger will be your best bet.

10x20

A 10x20 storage unit can typically fit the contents of a smaller home, including oversized items like a couch, refrigerator, washer, dryer and dining room set. If you’re moving and need a place to store most of your belongings for a while, then this may be the perfect unit for you.

10x25

This is the largest size we offer and is capable of storing the contents of a fully furnished three-bedroom home. In a 10x25 storage unit, you can store a couch set, refrigerator, washer, dryer, dining room set, entertainment center, piano mattresses, and several large boxes. If you have a lot of stuff to store and want to keep it all together, then a 10x25 storage unit is perfect for you.

Commonly asked storage unit questions?

What is self-storage?

When it comes to storage units, there are a couple of different kinds available. One of the most popular types of storage is self-storage. Self-storage is simply space away from your own property where you can store anything you don’t want at home or don’t have room for. Self-storage means that you are storing these items yourself, so they are typically accessible by a car or truck so that you don’t have to worry about carrying your items a long way. Many storage facilities even offer moving assistance, so if you don’t have enough willing hands, your storage provider may be able to help.

There are different types of self-storage, including traditional drive-up self-storage and climate-controlled self-storage. Both of these come with different advantages and disadvantages, so doing your research before booking a unit is crucial.

What are the benefits of self-storage?

Self-storage comes with many benefits. Some of these benefits include freeing up considerable space in your home or business. With self-storage, you can move excess items away from where you live or work and not have to worry about them until you need them. While some people feel that they need to buy a bigger property or get rid of all their extra items, self-storage offers another solution.

Instead of getting rid of everything or investing in a larger space of your own, you can pay to store your unused or seasonal items at a self-storage company and stop worrying about everything getting in your way.

Another benefit of self-storage is the peace of mind it brings in the midst of a move. If you’ve moved homes in the past or are currently planning a move, then you know how difficult and stressful it can be to get everything to your new residence. Sometimes you have too much stuff and don’t want to worry about moving all of it right now, or maybe you have to be out of your current home a few weeks or months before you’re able to move into your new place. Having a place to store all of your stuff will be extremely helpful and means you won’t have to worry about as many things during this stressful time.

What is the difference between regular drive-up storage and climate-controlled storage?

Many storage facilities have two kinds of available storage: drive up and climate-controlled. Basically, the two are exactly what they sound like. Drive-up storage units are accessible by car or truck and typically have a garage-style roll-up door to make loading and unloading your unit easy. Drive-up storage is also similar to a garage in that there is no climate regulation or steps taken to prevent items from reacting adversely to being in storage. Basically, you bring your stuff and just drop it off.

Climate-controlled storage, on the other hand, means that many steps are taken to ensure that your items do not become damaged by the air, mold, or anything else. Climate-controlled facilities include technology that regulates the air inside your storage unit and prevents wood, leather, lace, or other materials from becoming damaged.

Climate-controlled storage units are more expensive than regular drive-up units because of the extra cost and effort it takes to control the climate and air in your storage unit. If you plan on storing items for a long time that include materials such as leather, wood, lace, or upholstery, then having a climate controlled storage unit is a good idea. You don’t want to risk damage to any of the things you’ve taken the time to store, so taking the leap now and booking a climate-controlled storage unit is your best bet.
